This exam is the PRO: Windows Server 2008, Enterprise Administrator. The one that is responsible for the general IT environment and architecture is the enterprise administrator. They are the one that translates business goals into technology decisions and plans mid-range to long-term strategies. They are also the one that makes the key decisions and recommendations with the following: network infrastructure; security policies; directory services, authentication, and identity management; business continuity; design of IT administrative structure; and best practices, standards, and service level agreements. The enterprise administrator is the one in charge for the infrastructure design and global configuration changes. Their job position involves 20% operations, 60% engineering, and 20% support tasks.
When the applicants pass this exam, they will earn credit certification towards Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator.
To help the applicants prepare for this exam, they should have practical experience with the product and that they take other training courses related to this exam. They can take courses such as course 6435 (for 5 days); course 6436 (for 5 days); and course 6437 (for 3 days). The applicants can also visit Microsoft online resources such as Windows Server 2008 – Learning portal; TechNet; MSDN; and Microsoft Learning Community. They may also take Microsoft E-Learning collections such as collection 6435 (14 hours); collection 6436 (16 hours); and collection 6437 (10 hours).
This exam will measure the skill of the applicants to complete the following tasks:
Planning network and application services – the applicants must perform the following: plan for name resolution and IP addressing; design for network access; plan for application delivery; and plan for terminal services.
Designing core identity and access management components – the applicants should carry out the following: design active directory forests and domains; design the active directory physical topology; design the active directory administrative model; and design the enterprise-level group policy strategy.
Designing support identity access management components – the applicants must carry out the following: plan for domain or forest migration, upgrade, and restructuring; design the branch office deployment; design and implement public key infrastructure; and plan for interoperability.
Designing for business continuity and data availability – applicant should perform the following: plan for business continuity; design for software updates and compliance management; design operating system virtualization strategy; and design for data management and data access.
