This exam is the TS: Microsoft Forefront Client and Server, Configuration. This exam is intended for IT professionals that work in mid-sized to large computing environments. They should also be deploying and using MS Forefront technologies. The Forefront Server Security, Forefront Client Security, and Forefront Edge Security are the main focus of this exam. The applicants of this exam must have a minimum of 1 year experience in desktop administration and MS Windows server administration. They should also have awareness with the following: malware, spam protection software, and anti-virus software.
If the applicants pass this exam, they will earn credit certification towards Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Microsoft Forefront Client and Server – Configuration. They will also earn credit certification as an elective exam towards the following: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator on Windows Server 2003; Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer on Windows Server 2003; Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server; and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer: on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
To help the applicants prepare for this exam, aside from their hand-on experience with the product, they must also take other training resources that are related to this exam. This exam will determine the ability of the applicants to complete the following tasks with the use of MS Forefront Client and Server:
Deploying Client Agents and Policies – applicants must deploy client agents and policies; configure server products; maintain the infrastructure of the client and server; and review status and activity.
Configuring Server Products – the applicants must deploy a Forefront client; create a Forefront Client Security (FCS) policy; deploy FCS policy; configure FCS updates; customize notification messages and admin notifications; configure reporting services; and enable clients to download updates outside a corporate network.
Maintaining the Infrastructure of the Client and Server – the applicants should configure definition and engine updates for server products; configure settings for server products; deploy templates to multiple servers; and customize notification messages and admin notifications.
Monitoring Protection Status and Activity – the applicants must configure default actions; configure file-blocking rules; configure a manual scan; configure an ad hoc update of engines and signature files; optimize the performance of scan engines; and troubleshoot issues by using default installation log files and operation log files.
