This exam is the TS: Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 – Application Development. This exam is proposed for consultants that provide Windows SharePoint Services development. This is also for corporate developers who use the Windows SharePoint Services platform to build systems. Applicants on this exam must have the following qualifications: 2 to 3 years experience working with ASP.NET; experience working with Master pages; 1 to 2 year experience in developing ASP.NET Web Parts; 1 to 2 years experience working with XML documents; 2 to 3 years experience in developing and consuming Web services; and must have a working knowledge of Windows WorkFlow Foundation.
When the applicants pass this exam, they will get a credit certification towards MCTS: Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: Application Development.
When the exam starts, the applicants can use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 or Microsoft Visual C# 2005 for the programming language wherein the code segments will show.
Before the applicants take the exam, besides their practical experience with the product they can also take other training courses related to this exam to help them prepare for this exam. They can take courses such as course 50026A and course 50064A. The applicants can also take the Microsoft E-Learning collections such as collection 5385 and collection 5392.
This exam will determine the skill of the applicants to build enterprise portals with the use of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. And before the applicants take the exam, they should be proficient with the following job skills:
Deploying Windows SharePoint Services and Custom Components – applicants must perform the following: configure a target computer for Windows SharePoint Services Development; deploy a Web Part to the Windows SharePoint Services server; create and deploy a Windows SharePoint Services solution package; deploy a site definition to a Windows SharePoint Services front-end Web server; deploy a feature to a Windows SharePoint Services front-end Web server; deploy a Web service to a Windows SharePoint Services front-end Web server; and deploy user controls to a Windows SharePoint Services front-end Web server.
Creating Site and Feature Provisioning Components – the applicants must do the following: create a feature definition; create a site definition; specify a Document Template in a site definition; create a site definition module; specify the configurations of lists and modules in a site definition; and create pages and layouts for a site.
Customize Web Part behavior based on feature availability – applicants must do the following: dynamically handle events; manage hierarchy; customize navigation in a Windows SharePoint Service site; and manage groups and group membership.
