TS or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist exam, Exam 70-500: Microsoft Windows Mobile Designing, Implementing, and Managing is intended for IT professionals who are knowledgeable on designing, implementing, and managing mobile infrastructures, mobile devices, and mobile applications that are used for enterprise or small or medium-sized business environment. This examination was developed by Microsoft and was released on March 2 of 2007.
Requirements for qualifying for the exam
There is a number of requirements to qualify for Exam 70-500 which are mostly on work experience and knowledge with applications. For a candidate to be qualified, one must have experience with or is knowledgeable of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or Exchange Server 2007 concepts like Outlook Web Access (OWA), Outlook Mobile Access (OMA), and Exchange ActiveSync (EAS).
An experience with Active Directory on directory service of one up to two years is part of the requirements; knowledge with this also suffices. Candidates should have a minimum of one year work experience with mobile devices and also needs to have experience or knowledge of mobile and general network security concepts like firewalls, reverse proxy, certificates, and configuring security protocols of the likes of EAP, TLS, WPA, WEP, and 802.1x. Experience with the use and management of Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack and also with Microsoft ActiveSync 4.1 or later is also needed.
Last on the list as requirement for the qualification, candidates must also be knowledgeable or have experience regarding Short Message Service (SMS) and Hotmail (HTTP) or other messaging protocols.
Skills measured in the exam
Exam 70-500 will be measuring the examinee’s ability and proficiency to design, implement, and manage mobile infrastructures. One must also be knowledgeable with mobile devices, and mobile applications in an enterprise of small to medium-sized business environment; it will be specifically focusing on management of devices by using exchange server, configuration of messaging infrastructure and configuration of its network connectivity.
