This exam is the TS: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence – Implementation and Maintenance. This exam is proposed for professionals who implements and maintain solutions using the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence tool suit. The applicants are qualified for this exam if they have experience in the following: knowledge of database schemas, both multidimensional and relational; knowledge of implementing a cube in SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS); knowledge of SSAS data mining algorithms; creating and deploying SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports; authoring and deploying SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages; and working with the Microsoft .NET Framework.

If the applicants pass this exam, they will earn credit certification towards MCTS: SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence. The applicants will also gain credit certification towards MCITP: Business Intelligence Developer.

To help the applicants prepare for this exam, aside from their practical experience with the product they must also take other training courses that are related to this exam. They can take courses such as course 2791, course 2792, and course 2793. The applicants may also take Microsoft E-Learning courses such as course 2942, course 2943, and course 2944.

This exam will determine the ability of the applicants to build business intelligence applications using MS SQL Server 2005 business intelligence tools. Before the applicants take the exam, they should be proficient with the following:
Manage SSAS – the applicants must perform the following: install SSAS; configure SSAS; deploy an SSAS solution; monitor SSAS; implement processing for SSAS objects; and implement disaster recovery tasks.

Developing SSAS Solutions by Using BIDS – the applicants must do the following: implement security on SSAS database objects; create a cube; create dimensions; create and maintain measure groups and partitions; create key performance indications (KPIs); create actions; create a data source view; and create queries and calculations by using MDX.

Implementing Data Mining by Using BIDS – the applicants must do the following: create a data mining solution; select a data mining definition method; process a data mining object; query the data mining model by using Data Mining Extensions (DMX); test the data mining model by using mining accuracy charts; and implement data mining security.

Managing SSRS – applicants should do the following: manage SSRS reports by using Report Manager; Install an SSRS infrastructure; configure an SSRS infrastructure; deploy SSRS reporting solutions; implement SSRS schedules and subscription by using Report Manager; and Implement security on SSRS solutions by using Report Manager.
