The exam is Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition. The qualifications for the examinees on this exam are that they are operating in a medium to very large computing environments which uses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition. Examinees should also have one year experience in implementing relational databases in environments that contains heterogeneous databases; SQL Server security integrated with Windows Authentication; web configurations which uses Microsoft Internet Information Services or COM+; multiple installations of SQL Server 2000; client and or server configurations of 50 to 5,000 or more users; and databases as large as two terabytes.
When the examinees pass the exam, they will achieve Microsoft Certified Professional status. They will also earn core credit toward Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDA) on Microsoft SQL Server 2000; an elective credit toward Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Microsoft Windows 2000; an elective credit toward Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0; an elective credit toward Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Microsoft Windows 2000.

Installing and configuring SQL Server 2000 – the examinees should perform an installation of SQL Server 2000. They should consider the clustering, file locations, number of instances, default collation, and service accounts when installing the SQL Server 2000. The examinees should also upgrade an SQL Server 6.5 and SQL Server 7.0 to SQL server 2000. They must also create a linked server, configure network libraries, and troubleshoot failed installations.
Create SQL Server 2000 databases – examinees must perform a configuration of database option for performance. They should attach and detach databases; create and alter database; and create and manage objects.
Extracting and transforming data with SQL Server 2000 – the examinees must set up IIS virtual directories to support XML. They should also import and export data, and manage linked servers. They must convert data types, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot replication services.
Before taking the exam, the examinees should consider taking training courses and have hands-on experience of the product. The examinees can take courses such as course 2321A; course 2323A; course 2324A; course 2723A; and course 2322A. These courses will help the examinees on the tasks they must accomplish on the test.
