Exam 70-215
The Exam 70-215 is about Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. The qualifications for the candidates in this exam are that they should have operated in a medium-sized to a very large computing environment which uses the Microsoft Windows 2000 server operating system. Candidates have a minimum of one year experience in implementing and administering network operating systems. They should have experience supporting users that range from 200 to more than 26,000; physical locations range from 5 to more than 150; typical network services and applications; and connectivity needs of the network. If the candidate passes the exam, the candidate will achieve a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) status. The candidate may also earn credit to these certifications: Core credit toward Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Microsoft Windows 2000 certification; Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Microsoft Windows 2000 certification; and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) on Microsoft Windows 2000 certification. Aside from the hands-on experience working with the product, the candidate may use the following tools and training to help prepare for the exam. The candidate can take Course 1560, Course 2151, and Course 2152. They can also take Microsoft Press self-pace training products and Microsoft certified practice tests like MeasureUp and Self Test Software. Microsoft online resources such as TechNet, MSDN, and training and certification newsgroups can also be used to help prepare for the exam. Implementing, administering, and troubleshooting information systems that incorporate Microsoft Windows 2000 Server will be measured by this certification exam. Before taking the exam, the candidate should be proficient in the following job skills:
Installing Microsoft Windows 2000 Server – The candidate should perform an attended installation of Windows 2000 Server. Perform an unattended installation of Windows 2000 server by creating unattended answer files using the Setup Manager to automate the installation. The candidate should also deploy service packs, upgrade a server from Windows NT 4.0 and troubleshoot failed installations. Configuring and troubleshooting hardware devices and drivers – The candidate must configure hardware devices and driver signing options. They must also update the device drivers and troubleshoot problems with the hardware. Managing, configuring, and troubleshooting storage use – candidates must monitor, configure, and troubleshoot disk and volumes. Configure data compression, monitor and configure disk quotas, and recover disk failures must also be performed by the candidate. Implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Security – the candidate must perform an encryption of data on hard disk using Encrypting File System (EFS). They must also implement, configure, manage, and troubleshoot the following: Local Policy in a Windows 2000 environment; system policy in a Windows 2000 environment; auditing; local accounts; and account Policy.
